Space isa material

We are a twelve-person studio designing buildings, rooms and objects for people who believe the quiet version is usually the brave version.

Philosophy

A room is finished not when nothing more can be added, but when nothing can be quietly removed. We design for the fiftieth visit, not the first photograph.

Light first

Every project starts as a study of how daylight will move through it across a full year — the plan is drawn around that, not the other way.

Honest materials

Timber that greys, stone that scars, plaster that takes a handprint. Buildings should age in public without embarrassment.

Small studio, senior work

No hand-off teams. The people who sketch your project in month one are on site in month twenty.

Studio

Twelve chairs,
one long table

Founded in 2016 above a sailmaker’s loft in Oslo. We keep the studio deliberately small and deliberately senior: architects, an interior architect, a furniture maker and one person whose entire job is saying “should we?”.
